On the Eve of the Incarnation
This is one of my favorite days of the year. Traditionally, Christmas Eve is the day we move from Advent and into the Christmas Season. I may not be very good at Advent, but feasting, I feasting I can do.
I have often wondered what heavenly food will taste like. If all of creation will be redeemed, does that mean even our food will be redeemed? The literal foretastes of heaven that we will partake of tomorrow are so delicious, I don’t think my heart could bear anything more.
I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. – Psalm 81:10, ESV
Let us remember tonight, tomorrow, and always who He is. May we dwell of the beauty of the mystery of our faith, that, “Christ has come, Christ is coming, and Christ will come again.” Admonishing our brothers and sisters in Christ and all those around us with these words.
For these last few hours of waiting, I leave you with Sandra McCracken’s song “Come Light Our Hearts.” It has been playing through my mind all week. As we wait for the “already, not yet,” may He fill our hearts with His goodness.
