The Thin Place

Aloha. My name is Bailey. My journey has taken me from my hometown in Michigan to Hawaii and back again. After growing up with 9 (yes, nine) younger brothers and sisters, God has blessed me with my marine. He has carried me through much and brought me to live on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

Most of my days are spent consuming more coffee than doctors recommend and snuggling with my two dogs, Cooper and Marley. Despite bumps and fights with Hubby over how many books one needs to keep in a house (obviously as many as the house will fit), we have a beautiful life and have lived a place many people only dream of living.

I am a thin person. Not literally of course. This is a very figurative thin. I love my life but often it stretches me to the end of myself, to a place where I’m not quite sure how I’m even being held together. But I am held.

So I write about being held. Through chronic pain, depression, and infertility. But mostly, I write about the sufficiency of God’s grace in these very thin places and moments of my life and how He is weaving together a beautiful story for my good and His glory.

The Church Calendar has been a source of much joy and excitement for me as I relive the story of God’s redemption year after year. I am passionate about incorporating traditional practices of Christianity into my life and encouraging others to do so in their own walks.

I am a contributing writer for Her View From Home and She the Fierce. I’ve enjoyed the diversity and beauty of these communities and the chance to write about more diverse topics than this forum allows.

Hello, I’m Bailey
about me

Hello, I’m Bailey

The Thin Place was born out of a season of struggle. A season where I felt stretched thin and desperately longed to see the goodness of God in the land of the living. The goodness of God showed up in unexpected ways. During that season, the spiritual disciplines laid out in Scripture, the traditions of the Church, and the reminders of His faithfulness seen in liturgial living and the feasts and seasons of the Church calendar all opened my eyes to the hope we have in Christ.
